12.07.2023 - Battery Management

Applicable Models

PAX A920Pro, A77, and A50 terminals now include a feature to prolong battery performance, similar to the latest Android smartphones and devices.

Battery Management

PAX has introduced Intelligent Battery Management, which adjusts the charging capacity based on the average terminal usage over the preceding days. This is done to minimise unnecessary ‘wear’ on the battery and extend peak performance.

We recommend using the Auto-adaptation Mode wherever possible. However, the auto-setting can be overridden at any time depending on the merchant's use of the terminal(s).

If the terminal is only used for short periods between recharging, either via direct connection or by placing it on the charging base, then the charging will stop at 80%. This is known as Desktop Mode, where an 80% charge will be more than sufficient for operation between recharges.


✓ A white circle will appear on the Status Bar at the top of the screen when Desktop Mode is enabled.

On the other hand, if the terminal is regularly used for extended periods and many hours between recharging, then the charging will continue to 100%. This is called Mobile Mode to ensure a 100% charge is available for a full day's use or more between recharges.

When fully charged, whether to 80% or 100% depending on the mode in use, recharging will only resume when the charge drops below 70% or 90% respectively while the terminal is in use and connected to the charger.

04.07.2023 - Keeping you compliant in an evolving market

We wanted to let you know that over the coming weeks we’ll be updating all your terminals so you’re fully compliant with new regulations associated with the firmware on your device. This includes update to the certification that your terminal is using and also updates to the DCC product, All payment terminals with DCC enabled must display text for the cardholder. This text must be consistent and compliant. The update is to ensure all DCC enabled payment terminals have the correct text. The update will happen overnight, so we’re not expecting this to have any impact on your business.

To help ensure this is successful, please can you make sure your terminals are:


✓ Left switched on at night.
✓ Charged to at least 50% battery.
✓ Connected to your WIFI.

28.06.2023 - Exciting update on your terminals

This is part of the exiting work we’re doing to bring our businesses together under the Planet brand to deliver connected commerce solutions to our partners and customers. The update will happen overnight, so we’re not expecting this to have any impact on your business.
